I asked Vin Diesel for a Last Witch Hunter sequel, and he delivered

8 September 20252 Mins Read

I yelled into the online void for Lionsgate to make a sequel to The Last Witch Hunter, and the film gods bestowed upon me a gift. A sequel has been confirmed 10 years later — with Vin Diesel and Michael Caine reprising their respective roles.

The Last Witch Hunter sequel is being fast-tracked with Vin Diesel’s production company, One Race Films, attached, and Caine returning from retirement to reprise his role as the priestly Dolan. Last Witch Hunter grossed $130 million at the worldwide box office in 2015 and was ranked among the five most-watched movies on Netflix in 2025, so this news is a no-brainer. Plus, Diesel is not one to let one of his original IPs die. (Why Caine felt the need to come out of retirement is a little murkier.)

“The Last Witch Hunter has grown since its theatrical release into a global fan favorite, with audiences continuing to discover and re-watch it across every platform over the past decade,” said Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, in a press release. “That enduring enthusiasm made clear there is an appetite for more stories set in this world. Vin and I have partnered many times over the years, and he is a true force in our industry. I’m thrilled to be reuniting with him as he returns to this iconic role, and excited by how advancements in filmmaking technology now allow us to economically deliver a sequel on an even more ambitious scale.”

The original film follows the immortal warrior Kaulder (Diesel), who enforces a fragile truce between witches and humans in present-day New York. When his mentor (Caine) is attacked, he teams with a new Dolan (Elijah Wood) and a rogue witch (Rose Leslie) to stop a plot to resurrect the Witch Queen and unleash a deadly plague. Kaulder was famously inspired by Diesel’s actual D&D character.

Sure, some of you hate The Last Witch Hunter, but at least it’s not another xXx sequel! Still, if Lionsgate actually uses my “mad scientist Dolan” or magic-meets-science New York chaos pitch, I want my money!
