I got a sneak peek of Calgary’s first-ever Shein pop-up store and here’s what to expect

3 July 20253 Mins Read

Giddy up, YYC! The Stampede is finally here, and if you’re not already in your best western, you’ll need a hat, bolo, and boots ASAP. After all, the midway is a runway.

If you’re not ready to kick up some dust at the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, don’t fret. There are a ton of stores, including the first-ever Shein pop-up in Calgary, where you can lasso a look for the big event.

Cowgirl core

Of all of the brands two-stepping their way into Calgary, Shein has definitely been one of the most anticipated.

Described as the “ultimate stop for Stampede outfit prep,” the online retailer has finally opened its inaugural in-person shop in CrossIron Mills, and it’s stocked with rodeo-ready clothes, accessories, and even home goods.

From plaid corsets to flowy skirts, lace, denim, and fringe, I almost felt overwhelmed with choice after walking through the door, but that was a relief for this last-minute shopper.

There was definitely no shortage of options, but beware: sizes and colours are going quickly. The store itself is no bigger than most in the mall, and fitting rooms are available, but people were eager.

For this reason, we feel it necessary to mention that those looking for something specific should visit sooner, rather than later.

Balling on a budget

As expected, almost everything was pretty affordable (most items were under $20).

This, obviously, is great news for those hoping to save money before heading to a concert, food, truck or ride line, because the grounds can get expensive.

In addition to this, each corner of the store had a theme, making it easier to piece together a full look and shop within your price range.

Interested in checking it out yourself? The Shein pop-up will run until July 13.

If you’re on the fence about something, you can always cross your fingers that it’s up to 30 per cent off.

According to the company, in-store perks like tiered discounts, exclusive gifts with purchase, and limited-time promotions will be available, so don’t hesitate.

“With a multi-category platform and inclusive sizing, Shein offers fashion that blends style with functionality, catering to a broad range of shoppers,” Shein wrote in an email to Curiocity.

“Shoppers can expect to browse and shop from collections such as Dazy, Emery Rose, Shein Mod, Westfade, Musera, Anewsta, Romwe, and Sheglam, all curated in dedicated spaces to reflect diverse style personalities.”

If you’re interested, come with an eagle-eyed friend and don’t be late!

Every day of the event, the first 100 shoppers who post from the pop-up on Instagram or TikTok will receive a custom-designed Calgary tote bag, which was created in collaboration with local artist Irene Neyman.

It’s going to be a Wild Western event, Calgary, so get set.

You never know what you might find.
