‘I love Canada’: Zach Galifianakis raves about living on this B.C. island

20 April 20263 Mins Read

Comedian and actor Zach Galifianakis recently revealed on a very public stage that he lives on a remote island in B.C., and that he loves Canada.

Galifianakis was recently a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the two funny men discussed The Hangover star’s home, as well as his love for the country and province.

This isn’t the first time Galifianakis has spoken about the fact that he lives in B.C. He recently shared some minor details about it when he was in town for Just For Laughs’ 10th Vancouver anniversary, when he shared a stage with Late Show icon David Letterman.

Galifianakis, who is married to a Canadian woman, never directly revealed where exactly in B.C. he lives. Still, people took to the comments of the Jimmy Kimmel Live Facebook post with a general consensus about his home island.

“You like people so much you moved to an almost unpopulated island,” Kimmel said, adding that it’s off the coast of British Columbia.

“Epstein Island?” Kimmel joked.

Kimmel asked Galifianakis, “How many people are on your island?”

“Uhh, I don’t know. Like, I don’t know. Like six?”

He changed his answer to around 1,000 people, saying that he generally only sees the same 50 people.

“I love Canada, it’s a great country,” Galifianakis said, and Kimmel agreed.

“British Columbia is very, very beautiful,” Galifianakis added.

Kimmel wondered about the pros and cons of just seeing the same 50 people all the time. In response, Galifianakis shared a story about when he was on the ocean recently.

“There was this couple far away with their child. Then they approached me closer, and this kid was like four or five, and the mother goes, ‘What are you doing?!’”

He responded that he was just getting something for his garden.

“The mother looks at me and goes, ‘You have an uncanny resemblance to the fat guy from The Hangover.’”

He told Kimmel he responded and said he gets that all the time. The woman replied, “I don’t like his stuff.”

Kimmel responded, “Wow, was she a local?”

“It was my wife,” Galifianakis joked.

Kimmel had a good laugh in response. You can watch the full clip below, and out of respect for Galifianakis’ privacy, you can read the comments yourself to figure out where exactly in B.C. he lives.

Galifianakis was recently in Metro Vancouver filming a new show called The Audacity, which is now out and available to watch.
