I tried the mini menu at Palm Sunday and got a summer glow-up

24 July 20254 Mins Read

Every summer, I tend to go for a new look — lighter and brighter, when it comes to my hair, that is. All blondes know that upkeep isn’t cheap. So when I wanted to add some brightness without blowing my budget, I went straight to the one place I trusted: Palm Sunday. Luckily for me, the team created a mini menu of much-needed services at a reduced cost.

Sandwiched between a laundry mat and a bicycle store is where you’ll find this wonderful gem. Palm Sunday is hard to miss (thanks to its mirrored window front). It’s located at 384 Harbord St., steps away from the Ossington intersection.

I’ve been a fan of Palm Sunday for quite a while. Co-founders Kat Marcus and Ronnie Dag are the powerhouses behind the salon, leading a small yet mighty team of stylists. The salon has been around for over 10 years and has truly cemented itself in the haircare industry.

Needless to say, I trust them with my hair. So when I booked my appointment, I knew I was in great hands.

What’s on the P.S. Mini Menu?

When it comes to styling, dyeing, and cutting your hair, it can be a pretty penny. Not all of us have the luxury to spend so much money on self-care — although I wish I could.

That’s where Palm Sunday’s mini menu comes along. The wonderful team has come up with eight mini services that are less than the cost of what it would normally come to.

The mini menu includes:

  • Happy Hour Blowout $60 – Available weekdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Palm Gloss $65–$85 – A tone-at-the-sink treatment that adds shine, tone, and strength.
  • Gloss & Blowout $125–$145 – A Palm signature: custom gloss paired with a full blowout.
  • Maintenance Cut $73–$87 – A dry trim to keep your shape fresh between major cuts.
  • Face-Framing Highlights $170–$180 – Brighten things up with soft, strategic highlights and a blowout.
  • Express Root $85 – A 10-minute root colour refresh.
  • Colour Analysis $40 – Custom colour palette with AI-backed precision.
  • Hair Tinsel $30 – Festival-ready sparkle inspired by Anora. Up to 5 strands of bling for birthdays, concerts, or just because.

As you can see, there are lots to choose from. If I could, I’d do it all, BUT since it’s summer, I went for the face-framing highlights, and thought, why not, let’s add some hair tinsel too.

“My hair is in your hands”

Kat took care of my hair appointment for the day. The moment I sat in the chair and put on the very cute Palm Sunday robe, I told her I left the fate of my hair in her hands.

We started off with the Colour Analysis, an AI-powered tool that created a custom palette just for me. Apparently, I’m a Light Summer! Who knew?

After going through the results, we jumped right into lightening my hair. Before long, we were over at the sinks rinsing everything out. Kat applied a nourishing hair mask to bring some life back into my strands, along with the toner and a final rinse to lock it all in.

To finish things off, she added a few strands of silver tinsel to add some extra sparkle to make my hair pop. Kat was so friendly and upbeat the whole time, it felt less like a salon visit and more like catching up with a friend who just happens to be amazing with hair. It never felt like I was just another appointment in her day.

And that’s the thing about Palm Sunday. Although its mirrored exterior may catch your eye, it’s what happens inside its four walls that really makes it special.

Whether it’s Kat, Ronnie, or anyone else on the team, you walk out feeling like the best version of yourself. Confident, refreshed, and of course, summer-ready.
