I tried Tim Hortons' new Thanksgiving Stack sandwich and I'm not feeling very thankful

16 September 20253 Mins Read

Thanksgiving came early at Tim Hortons this year.

Canada’s favourite coffee chain just launched a new seasonal sandwich that piles classic fall flavours, like turkey, cranberry, and stuffing, onto a toasted potato bun. Called the Thanksgiving Stack, it’s the latest addition to Tim Hortons’ hot sandwich lineup, following the Supreme Stack that debuted earlier this summer.

As the item’s holiday-themed name suggests, this one’s only around for a short time. It’s set to disappear after October 13, so the clock’s ticking if you want to try it.

But does it really taste like Thanksgiving dinner in sandwich form? I went to my nearest Tim’s to find out.

What’s inside?

According to Tim Hortons, the sandwich is “stacked tall” with carved Canadian turkey breast, homestyle stuffing, cranberry sauce made with real cranberries, crispy onions, mayo, and all of it served warm on a toasted potato bun.

It’s part of their lunch and dinner menu and goes for the same price ($10.79) as the Supreme Stack, which is made up of steak, peppercorn sauce and bacon. Both menu items are also featured in the new $8.99 Tims Rewards Dinner Deal running until mid-October.

My taste test

Like most fast food experiences, what landed in my bag looked nothing like the glossy promo photo on the menu. But that’s to be expected.

A Tim Hortons sandwich. Was the Tim Hortons near my place running low on turkey?Al Sciola

The size was the first surprise. While I was hoping for a substantial lunch, the portion I received was closer to a slider than a “stack.”

On the plus side, the bun holds up. It’s the same soft potato roll from the Tim’s steak and bacon sandwich, and it does its job well. The turkey wasn’t dry either (a Thanksgiving miracle), and you could actually taste it… at least until the cranberry kicked in.

The fruity sauce was heavy-handed, dominating every bite. A touch of sweetness works on a typical Thanksgiving plate, but here it drowned out almost everything else. The stuffing was practically nonexistent, and while the crispy onions and mayo added some texture, the whole thing felt more like a turkey-and-cranberry sandwich than the Thanksgiving feast it promises.

Is it worth the price?

To answer that question in one word: no.

The biggest problem was the size. My sandwich was gone in four or five bites, and for $10.79 before tax, that feels like a stretch. Maybe I eat quickly, but it’s hard to ignore how much more you get from other options. Tim Hortons’ own Steak & Cheddar Artisan Sandwich ($7.59) or Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap ($8.39) are both cheaper and far more filling.

And if you look outside the Tim’s menu, it’s even harder to justify — even a Big Mac or a Baconator will set you back less.

Final thoughts

The Thanksgiving Stack isn’t a bad sandwich. The turkey is decent, the bun is great, and the cranberry lovers out there will probably enjoy it. But if you’re expecting the full holiday experience in one bite, you might be left wanting more. At this price, it feels less like a feast and more like a snack.

Would I order it again? Probably not. But if you’re curious, you should get one before they’re gone for good — or just make your own with actual Thanksgiving leftovers.
