Other than Batman, Newmar was known for appearing in the 1954 flick Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, the 1989 movie Ghosts Can’t Do It and the 1961 film The Marriage-Go-Round—the last of which earned her a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play. (She also starred in the Broadway version in 1959.)

Previously, Newmar was married to lawyer J. Holt Smith from 1977 until their divorce in 1984. They welcomed one son, John Jewl Smith.

Her most recent acting credit, per IMDb, was in 2017 when she lent her voice to a character in the animated direct-to-video film Batman Vs. Two-Face.
