IHG Hotels & Resorts signed an agreement with GCP Hospitality for a 14-hotel portfolio in Kyoto, Japan.

The portfolio includes 12 Garner hotels, one Holiday Inn Express hotel and one unbranded hotel. The properties will be converted through renovations and rebranding, with phased openings planned over the next 12 months.

GCP Hospitality has been appointed to lead the management team for the 14-hotel portfolio.

The agreement includes IHG’s third Holiday Inn Express signing in Japan, following Holiday Inn Express Osaka City Centre – Midosuji and Holiday Inn Express Sapporo Susukino.

The hotels are located across Kyoto districts, including areas around Kyoto Station, Shijo and Gojo, near transport hubs and cultural and tourism attractions.

IHG’s existing Kyoto portfolio includes Six Senses Kyoto, ANA Crowne Plaza Kyoto, Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo and Garner Hotel Kyoto Shijo Karasuma. Its Kyoto properties span its Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium and Essentials brand categories.

Garner launched globally in August 2023 and has reached 100 open hotels. IHG introduced the brand in Japan in 2025 with the opening of three Garner hotels in Osaka. Garner is a midscale conversion brand.
