IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of Vaagali Maldives, Vignette Collection, set to open in late 2026, expanding its presence in the Maldives with a 52-villa resort.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to open Vaagali Maldives, Vignette Collection, in partnership with Vaagali Investment Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Gateway Maldives Pvt Ltd. The resort is scheduled to open in late 2026 and will feature 52 villas, both on land and overwater, located on Vaagali Island in the South Malé Atoll. The site is accessible via a 30-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport.
The development marks an expansion of IHG’s presence in the Maldives, where the company already operates several properties, including Noku Maldives, Vignette Collection, and others under the Six Senses and InterContinental brands. This new addition will be IHG’s sixth property in the Maldives.
The resort will offer a range of accommodations, including one-, two-, and three-bedroom pool villas, each equipped with a yoga pavilion. Additional amenities will include a 3,000-square-metre spa with aqua wellness facilities, a natural freshwater swimming pool, a sports complex with paddle courts, a kids club, and five dining venues.
Vaagali Maldives, Vignette Collection, aims to integrate sustainable practices into its operations. Planned initiatives include coral restoration, reef health monitoring, responsible energy and waste management, and reducing single-use plastics. The resort will also use locally sourced materials and craft-led design elements.
The Maldives continues to see substantial tourism numbers, with 1.7 million international arrivals recorded from January to October 2025, a 10% increase over the previous year. The country is on track to meet its target of 2.3 million arrivals for the year.
Since its launch in 2021, the Vignette Collection brand has grown to include 68 open and pipeline properties globally, with recent openings in Dubai, Lima, Osaka, and Shanghai.
