InterContinental San Diego Appoints Johann Runarsson as Food and Beverage Director

InterContinental San Diego has appointed Johann Runarsson Director of Food and Beverage for the 400-room waterfront property.

Runarsson will oversee the hotel’s dining outlets, beverage programs and banquet operations.

The hotel’s dining programs will feature seasonal and regional ingredients sourced directly from Southern California growers and suppliers. The culinary and beverage teams will use those ingredients in menus featuring local flavors.

Before joining InterContinental San Diego, Runarsson served as director of food and beverage at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, PGA National Resort & Spa and Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. He was also the opening director of food and beverage at the JW Marriott Austin.

Runarsson previously worked as asset director of food and beverage for Prime Hospitality Group in Hollywood, Florida. That role included work involving profitability, culinary concept creation and ownership expectations.

Runarsson holds degrees in Hotel Management and Food & Beverage Operations from César Ritz Colleges in Switzerland. He also holds a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from Washington State University.
