Introducing HSMAI Europe Pop-Up

22 July 20264 Mins Read

In Brief: HSMAI Europe has announced the introduction of Pop-Up events, aiming to provide hospitality professionals across Europe with accessible, regionally focused educational and networking sessions.

Some conversations simply can’t wait. Hospitality is changing faster than ever.

Over the past couple of months, I have been thinking about how HSMAI Europe can create even more value for our senior commercial members in a world where our industry is changing faster than ever.

During the summer, we had the opportunity to explore and refine this idea through conversations with a number of hospitality leaders from across Europe. Their reactions, questions and encouragement have helped shape the concept, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Every conversation has reinforced my belief that there is a real need for something like this.

New technologies emerge. Markets shift. Regulations evolve. Important commercial developments create new questions. At other times, an exceptional opportunity may arise because an influential hospitality leader, owner, investor, author or technology expert is visiting one of our European cities.

When opportunities like these arise, HSMAI Europe may create a Pop-Up—bringing together senior commercial leaders for a timely conversation while the topic is still current and relevant.

Some of the most valuable opportunities for learning, collaboration and connection appear unexpectedly.

As the leading association for commercial leaders in hospitality, HSMAI Europe believes we should be ready when those moments arise.

That is why we are introducing HSMAI Europe Pop-Up. A new member benefit designed to bring senior commercial leaders together at short notice whenever important conversations can’t wait.

They will not follow a fixed calendar or standard format. Instead, they will be announced at short notice whenever an important topic or exceptional opportunity arises, allowing HSMAI Europe to respond quickly when timely conversations matter most.

Most Pop-Ups are expected to last approximately 2–3 hours

They will typically take place over breakfast, in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on the opportunity and location. Some Pop-Ups may bring together ten or twelve commercial leaders around one table. Others may involve a somewhat larger audience. The format will always be shaped by the opportunity, the topic and the conversation we want to create.

Conversation Host

Each Pop-Up will be hosted by a respected commercial leader from one of our member companies, reflecting one of HSMAI Europe’s greatest strengths: bringing together peers who face the same opportunities and challenges every day to learn from one another.

Participation will be complimentary for invited senior commercial leaders working for HSMAI Europe member companies.

From Conversation to Wider Industry Impact

Following each Pop-Up, we also intend to capture key insights and, where appropriate, share them more broadly with our members and through hospitality and business media, extending the value of every conversation beyond those in the room. To support this initiative, we are expanding our network of journalists and media publications across Europe.

Join the HSMAI Europe Pop-Up Circle

Today, we are also launching the HSMAI Europe Pop-Up Circle. A curated community of senior commercial leaders working for HSMAI Europe member companies.

By joining the Circle, you can tell us more about:

  • Your role and commercial responsibilities
  • The topics most relevant to you
  • The locations you could attend at short notice
  • How much notice you would normally need
  • The perspective and experience you could bring to a conversation

We expect our first HSMAI Europe Pop-Up to take place this autumn. In the meantime, we are building the Pop-Up Circle across our European membership.

Register your interest

Please note: Joining the HSMAI Europe Pop-Up Circle is an expression of interest and does not guarantee eligibility or an invitation. Participation is limited to selected Pop-Ups and invitations are extended at HSMAI Europe’s discretion, based on membership status, role, expertise, location, availability and the mix of perspectives needed for each conversation.

We look forward to building this exciting new member benefit together with our community.

All the best,

Ingunn Hofseth
President & CEO
