*The* American idol addressed her potential future on a Broadway stage during a conversation with current Broadway star Sadie Sink, who can be seen in the play John Proctor Is the Villain at the Booth Theatre through July 6, 2025.
Clarkson looked back on the 23-year-old’s time in the musical Annie back when she was just 10 years old, finding it difficult to even imagine sending daughter River Rose, who is currently the same age, off to work eight times a week.
“Did you enjoy it when you were that young?” Clarkson wondered.
While Sink did indeed, her previous time on the stage was also accompanied by nerves. “I mean, to perform eight times a week for that many people, and as a little kid, I was just—“
“Girl, I’m 43 years old—I don’t wanna do that!” Clarkson interjected. “That sounds, like, not fun!”
“It’s a lot of work!” she added.

Now, it’s clear Clarkson knows a thing or two about a lot of work. The beloved songstress learns several new tracks a week for her fan-favorite Kellyoke segment, which can’t be easy—unless, perhaps, you’re Kelly Clarkson.
Unfortunately, it sounds like Broadway is not the kind of hard work she wants to focus her energy on, so you can probably cross From Justin to Kelly: The Musical off of your wishlists—it’s not happening!
