Is Brooklyn Nine-Nine Leaving Netflix? Another Shake-up of Seasons Planned for February

Is Brooklyn Nine-Nine Leaving Netflix? Another Shake-up of Seasons Planned for February

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has quietly become one of Netflix’s most-watched comfort comedies, pulling in a staggering 2.4 billion hours viewed between 2023 and 2025, but now the platform is steadily losing it piece by piece, at least in the US. What first looked like a routine catalog refresh has revealed a strange licensing pattern where seasons are being rotated out as new ones arrive, meaning the show is slowly disappearing from Netflix US rather than remaining available in full. February 2026 will be the next refresh.

The show doesn’t appear in the limelight on Netflix by any stretch, but quietly racks up a lot of viewership in the United States and around the globe. According to the Netflix Engagement Report covering viewership from the start of 2023 through the end of 2025, all eight seasons have collectively attracted 2.4B hours watched, equating to 334.6M views in that period.

You may recall that we first noted Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s departure when we recently covered all the high-profile licensed series set to leave in February 2026. It turns out, though, there was more to the story.

Quickly, a rewind: Brooklyn Nine-Nine first arrived on Netflix US on February 26th, 2024, with seasons 1-4. A year later, in January 2025, Netflix picked up seasons 5 and 6, but at the cost of seasons 1 and 2.

We’re now seeing a similar “two in, two out” situation again in February 2026.

On February 26th, we’ll see seasons 7 and 8, the final two seasons, consisting of 23 episodes in all, which will replace both seasons 3 and 4, which will both leave on February 26th, with your last day to watch being February 25th.

Our understanding is that seasons 5 and 6 will depart in February 2027, and that seasons 7 and 9 will depart a year later, in 2028. Licensing in this way is uncommon for Netflix, which typically opts to stream all seasons together.

Peacock remains the best place to binge through the show, as you can probably guess. All eight seasons are available there, both on the premium and free tiers.

What about Netflix internationally?

Internationally, where the show was added to Netflix exclusively throughout its run, Netflix holds all eight seasons.

Our understanding is that Netflix holds the licenses for all seasons in these regions through April 2028, so another two years at the time of publication.

Are you disappointed those earlier seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine are leaving Netflix? Let us know in the comments.
