In 2021, TLC viewers were introduced to Isaac Martinez on My 600-Lb Life. But how is he doing now?
Martinez, of Hutchins, Texas, lived with his parents and siblings at the beginning of his episode after dropping out of college to help take care of his mother with cancer. However, his size made it difficult for him to accomplish everyday tasks.

In Season 9, Episode 8 of the reality series, Martinez sought help from bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan (known as Dr. Now) in Houston, Texas. But was he able to change his ways and qualify for weight-loss surgery?
Isaac Martinez’s weight loss journey was featured in My 600-Lb Life Season 9, Episode 8.
“My life has become such a struggle. Because of my size, everything is hard,” Martinez said at the beginning of his episode. “And I’m so big now, even simple tasks like getting dressed can be a big chore for me, and I have to have help sometimes…Every day it gets harder to move and harder to breathe.”
During his first weigh-in at Dr. Now’s office, Martinez weighed in at 661 pounds. He lost 40 pounds over the first two months (his goal was 80), followed by 10 pounds (his goal was 100) at his next follow-up appointment.
After meeting with psychologist Dr. Matthew Paradise, his progress continued. He lost 34 pounds at his next weigh-in, followed by 39 pounds. Dr. Now then approved him for weight-loss surgery as long as he lost 30 more pounds.

On My 600-Lb Life: Where Are They Now?, TLC caught up with Martinez after his initial episode. Although Dr. Now extended the deadline for Martinez to qualify for weight loss surgery, his weight stalled out for months.
Ultimately, he decided to take a break for his mental health, re-enrolled in music school and continued his weight loss journey without Dr. Now’s help. He did not undergo weight loss surgery by the end of the April 9 episode.
How is Isaac Martinez from My 600-Lb Life doing now?
Since appearing on 600-Lb Life, Martinez has remained active on his Facebook account. He often posts about his crocheted creations but has not posted any recent photos or updates on his weight loss journey. Hopefully, he is doing well today!
