Italy Has Announced A Brand-New Vintage Train To Tuscany – But Only For A Limited Time, Canada Reviews

3 September 20252 Mins Read

Italy has been investing in launching scenic railway services on charming vintage trains for a couple of years now, and now a brand-new route, exclusively for the upcoming autumn season, has just been announced. Listen up.

Described as a ‘unique opportunity to slow down, connect deeply with the beauty of the landscape, and savour the most authentic essence of the region’, according to Wanted In Rome, it will journey from Rome to Siena ‘into the soul of Tuscany’ through Argentario and Val d’Orcia, with stops along the way in Tarquinia, Orbetello, Grosseto, Montepescali, Monte Antico, Buonconvento and Monteroni d’Abria.

Recommended: The luxurious new Spanish train journey launching next spring – with Unesco sites and charming villages.

Sounds stunning, right? Even better is that passengers on this service – dubbed the Espresso Siena – will be travelling on the newly restored ‘Gran Comfort’ carriages, which are a nod back to the elegance of 1970s travel with spacious interiors and large windows. A dreamy way to soak up those rolling Tuscan hills.

So, what’s the catch? Well, sadly the service won’t be a permanent fixture. Instead, it will operate on three weekends in the autumn (September 27, October 4 and November 1), departing from Rome at 7.42am on the Saturday morning for arrival in Siena at 1.20pm.

On Sundays (that’s September 28, October 5 and November 2), trains will trundle away from Siena at 3.05pm and arrive back in Rome at 9.03pm.

Better make the most of it, eh? Tickets start from €29, and you can read more on the FS Treni Turistici Italiani website.

Did you see that this Irish hub has been named as Europe’s best small airport?

Plus: The least and most affordable European cities to own a home.
