Jailed Ex-Raiders Star, 26, Apologizes for Fatal Car Crash: ‘I Wish I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time’

19 June 20252 Mins Read

Former NFL starHenry Ruggs III is apologizing to the family of Tina Tintor.

The 26-year-old former Las Vegas Raiders star spoke to fellow prisoners Tuesday via livestream at a Hope for Prisoners event, during which he expressed remorse for the 2021 car accident that led to the death of 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog. Ruggs, then a rookie for the Raiders, was driving 156 miles per hour while under the influence. He crashed into Tintor’s car, which resulted in a fiery collision that killed both her and her dog.

In video of the livestream event shared to social media, Ruggs can be seen wearing street clothes as he speaks into a microphone and expresses remorse to Tintor’s family.

The former athlete said, “I would love for them to meet the real Henry Ruggs and not the one that was escaping from something. You know, I sincerely apologize for not only being a part of that situation, but the fact that… my face is always in the news, my face is always in the newspaper. So they have to constantly be reminded of the situation, be reminded of me and see, you know, those memories have to continue to rise because of all of the fame and the notoriety that I have, which I never even— I never asked for. I never liked. And, you know, so I would just tell them that, you know, like I said, I deeply apologize for just being a part of that. And I wish that they could meet the real Henry Ruggs and not one who was just running away from everything.”

Ruggs’s reflection received mixed responses from viewers of the video. One wrote, “I hope this young man gets another chance at life. It’s a very sad situation on both sides, but he is still human and I believe he has a lot of good to give, especially after this,” while another offered, “Everyone deserves a second chance.”

Other commenters shared the opposing view. One wrote, “Too late for that now,” while another added, “R.I.P. to the innocent woman he murdered.”

Henry Ruggs will become eligible for parole in August 2026.
