Jam Band’s ‘Incredible’ Cover of Classic Rock Track Gets ‘Mad Respect’ From Fans

2 June 20252 Mins Read

Goose, the veteran jam band that’s been gaining popularity in recent years, paid tribute to an iconic late musician and fans are losing their minds over the tribute.

On May 31, on what would have been John Bonham’s 77th birthday, Goose let loose with a blazing tribute to the legendary Led Zeppelin drummer performing a six-minute-plus version of the classic Zep instrumental “Moby Dick,” with Goose drummer Cotter Ellis replicating Bonham’s complex drum patterns beat for beat.

The performance, which the band had professionally shot and posted on their YouTube channel, has fans raving about Ellis’ epic performance for which the drummer was dressed in a cut-off T-shirt sporting the name “Bonham” as well as his three-ring symbol that was used by the band.

“WOW! No one covers that and NO DRUMMER wants any piece of that solo! My hat is off to YOU, sir!” one fan enthused.

“May be my new top fav cover. Incredible,” added another.

“Badass brothers! Great rendition. Mad respect.❤️,” added a third.

Bonham was just 32 years old when he died on Sep. 24, 1980, after a day and night of excessive drinking led to him choking on his own vomit while in bed. His death effectively meant the end of Led Zeppelin, although the band did reunite for a special performance at Live Aid in 1985 and in 1988, with Bonham’s son Jason on drums, for the Atlantic Records 40th anniversary concert.

Goose is on tour now. On Tuesday, June 3, the band plays the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. Their current round of dates wraps with the Suwannee Hulaween in Live Oak, Fla. on Oct. 30-Nov. 2.
