James Van Der Beek, who is most well-known for playing the title character in the hit teen drama Dawson’s Creek, had some exciting news to share with his fans on May 14.
The actor took to Instagram to let people know that he would be at Galaxy Con in Oklahoma City, Okla., May 23 to 25. He shared the announcement with fans in a video, looking great in a white shirt with a soft red button-up on top.

Van Der Beek smiled into the camera as he began, “What’s up, everybody? I’m announcing that I will be at Galaxy Con…and not only will I be there, but Mark-Paul Gosselaar will also be there.”
Referencing a common joke that he and the Saved by the Bell star are the same person due to their similar looks, he went on, “So for any conspiracy theorists out there who are trying to say that he and I are the same person, ‘Because I’ve never seen them together in a room before,’ we will be together, in a room, signing autographs, taking pictures.”
“You might even be able to get a picture with the two of us at the same time,” Van Der Beek declared, before finishing the message by telling fans, “I hope to see you there.”

“Seeing you two in the same room would be a literal dream,” wrote one fan in the comments, referring to Van Der Beek and Gosselaar.
Another fan said, “It would be a dream come true to meet u!🩵.”
Some fans confirmed that they would be at Galaxy Con to see him, while others complimented the actor, saying things like, “James, you’re looking GREAT and HEALTHY 🤞!!!!” and “Great hair, stay up man ❤️,” and wishing him well.
Van Der Beek revealed in late 2024 that he was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer, saying at the time, “There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good.” He has remained active and positive as he goes through treatment.
