Commenters on X took issue with the comparison, calling the actress out for being ‘insensitive.’
“This comment draws a controversial and insensitive comparison that downplays the severity of conflicts in war-torn countries like Gaza,” one person wrote.
“B—h this is nothing like Gaza! Don’t compare a natural disaster to a Genocide!” a second chimed in.
“GURL WHAT??????” someone else added.
“I don’t think all these middle class & rich people in LA are in a war zone?? Just a thought,” another X user pointed out.
On Thursday, Jan. 9, Curtis announced that she and her family would be donating $1 million from their Family Foundation “to start a fund of support for our great city and state and the great people who live and love there.”

The star’s fans were quick to praise her actions.
“Absolutely incredible 👏🏻 if only more were like you to be so selfless when they’re in the financial position to be able to donate a bit more that would really change lives. Brava ❤️” raved one person.
“God bless you and your family. You’ve sparked a mission of love and resilience! Humanity at work!” agreed someone else.
