Jason Birney Named Executive Vice President and General Manager at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia

Cordish Gaming Group has appointed Jason Birney as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. In this role, Birney will oversee all day-to-day management and operations of the property, including gaming, hotel, food and beverage, marketing, and guest experience.

Birney brings more than 20 years of gaming industry experience to the position. Most recently, he served as Head of Interactive Operations at Penn Entertainment, where he oversaw the company’s interactive portfolio, including ESPN BET (formerly Barstool Sportsbook), Hollywood Casino, and The Score. His scope included casino development studios and operations, omnichannel casino marketing, VIP and player development, product operations, trading and sportsbook operations, and media and sales teams.

Previously, Birney held several executive roles at Penn Entertainment, including Vice President and General Manager of Hollywood Casino Columbus, Vice President and General Manager of Hollywood Gaming Dayton Raceway, Vice President and Assistant General Manager at Hollywood Casino Columbus, and Vice President of Marketing at both Hollywood Casino Columbus and Hollywood Casino Toledo. He held various other roles within Penn Entertainment over nearly 17 years.

Birney began his gaming career at Caesars Entertainment in Atlantic City, New Jersey, holding marketing roles at Harrah’s and Showboat, and later at Harrah’s Philadelphia. He was named to Global Gaming Business Magazine’s Emerging Leaders of Gaming 40 Under 40 in 2018.

Birney holds a Bachelor of Science from Florida Southern College and a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University.
