Jeremy Renner Openly Addresses Marvel Return After Near-Fatal Snowplow Incident

31 July 20252 Mins Read

It’s been roughly four years since audiences last saw Jeremy Renner portray the quick-firing superhero Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While it’s natural to wonder whether the 53-year-old star is ready to rejoin the MCU after his near-fatal 2023 snowplow accident, Renner himself has recently said he’s “150%” physically ready for his return as Hawkeye.

“I’m always happy to be in that world, man,” the Oscar-nominated actor told Empire magazine in a recent interview. “I love all those guys, I love the character.”

Regarding a potential second season for his character’s spinoff series Hawkeye, Renner specifically said he believes Disney+ will green-light a continuation of the show, allowing him to once again take up the archery bow of his famed character.

“I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2, and do other things. And I’m happy to do it,” Renner said. “My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights.”

A return to the Marvel Universe likely means some demanding physical stunts, but Renner remained confident he’ll be able to perform to the best of his abilities.

“Absolutely. No problem,” Renner said when asked whether he’s for stunt work in the series. “That’s where I’m at. I’m more than 150% of what I was prior to the incident.”

Continuing on, Renner said that his serious 2023 accident – which left him with 30 broken bones, severe chest trauma, a punctured liver and a left eye fracture – actually helped him embrace a new approach to life, allowing him to pursue a rigorous regimen of exercise on a daily basis.

“Having health and wellness be such a central part of my life, that’s what’s gotten me back,” he observed. “And even as I age, I just feel stronger than I’ve been. I have some issues, and tendon issues and certain limitations of flexibility and mobility, but I spent a lot of time on getting better and stronger, and I wouldn’t if I didn’t get crushed.”
