JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group has completed the $111 million sale of the Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa in Costa Rica to Pursuit Attractions.

JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group has announced the sale of the Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa, located in the La Fortuna region of Costa Rica, for $111 million to Pursuit Attractions and Hospitality, Inc.

The Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa encompasses approximately 570 acres of rainforest at the base of the Arenal volcano, a prominent eco-tourism site. The property includes the 105-room Tabacón Hotel and the Tabacón Hot Springs, noted as Costa Rica’s largest network of naturally occurring thermal mineral springs.

The resort’s accommodations range from 376-square-foot Orchid Rooms to 2,530-square-foot Two-Bedroom Arenal Suites, each offering views of the rainforest and volcano. Key amenities include an extensive network of thermal pools and waterfalls, an open-air spa, and the Choyin Rio Termal, a separate thermal experience.

JLL represented the seller in the transaction. The team involved in the sale included Senior Managing Director Andrew Dickey, Senior Director Maciej Polek, and Vice President Derek Hayden.

This acquisition reflects the ongoing interest in Costa Rica’s tourism sector, which has experienced growth due to increased international air travel and the country’s reputation as a wellness and eco-tourism destination. The new ownership is expected to leverage these factors in managing the property.
