Compensation: $21-22.50/hour for up to 650 contract hours, to be scheduled in collaboration with the successful candidate, reaching 40 hours per week June through August.
Overview:
KidsFringe is a project developed by Fringe Theatre to serve the needs of children and their families during the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival. KidsFringe is a secure and friendly environment in which children (ages 0-12) and their guardians can watch free professional performances, listen to stories, join parades and games, and get engaged in arts and crafts activities, all free of charge.
The KidsFringe Manager is responsible for the organization and operation of KidsFringe during the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival. This position reports to the Artistic Director and will be guided by the KidsFringe Director through mentorship and pre-Festival planning. The KidsFringe Manager will work with the Festival Production Department in the execution and management of the KidsFringe site. The KidsFringe Manager will also supervise the KidsFringe team, which can include up to four support positions as well as Volunteers.
Duties include (but not limited to) the following:
Coordinate and manage child-friendly entertainment for KidsFringe which has been booked by the KidsFringe Director.
Adhere to the KidsFringe budget as set by the Artistic Director and KidsFringe Director.
Submit a KidsFringe event schedule and pertinent information by the required deadline for the Festival Program Guide and online materials.
Hire, train, schedule, and manage all personnel working at KidsFringe, ensuring a safe working environment, delegating tasks, and overseeing all projects.
Support the Volunteer Department in recruitment, training, and on-site facilitation of Festival Volunteers working at KidsFringe.
Work with all relevant departments in the implementation of KidsFringe programming, including site set up and take down.
Work outdoors in a range of weather conditions (August in Edmonton) while ensuring safety for all Patrons, Staff, and Volunteers.
Manage all KidsFringe inventory and ordering supplies.
Create and implement child-friendly activities as part of KidsFringe programming.
Build, coordinate, and manage strong relationships with all KidsFringe partners, including Artists, Sponsors, community partners, and Festival contractors, ensuring a welcoming and positive experience for everyone involved.
Coordinate the booking of daycares and day camps into the KidsFringe schedule.
Confidently solve problems with the team, de-escalate challenging situations, and provide radical hospitality to all guests.
Submit a final written report to the Artistic Director regarding KidsFringe operations upon completion of the Festival.
Qualifications
This position requires some lifting, loading, and unloading of event supplies and equipment;
A valid class 5 license is considered an asset;
Access to reliable transportation is considered an asset;
Standard First Aid certification is considered an asset; and
Candidate will be required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check including a Police Information Check.
The ideal candidate has training and at least a few years’ experience in education and/or child & family programming. If you have the drive but not the years’ experience, still throw your hat in the ring. We want to work with someone passionate who wants to learn.
