Job Title: Stage Manager / Producer
Classification: Part-time, seasonal
Hours: Approximately 8 hours/week, with hours varying throughout the season
Compensation: $23–$28/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Start Date: October 15, 2026 (negotiable)

GeriActors (geriactors.ca) is a small intergenerational theatre company that creates original theatre about aging and intergenerational experiences. From September to June our members work together through a collective creation process, developing stories and scenes that are shared with the community.

ABOUT THE ROLE: Reporting to the Associate Director, the Stage Manager/Producer helps support the rehearsal and production process. This is a hands-on role that combines rehearsal support, organization, communication, and production coordination.

During Rehearsals:
– Help set up and tidy the rehearsal space.
– Take photos and videos of rehearsals as needed.
– Keep track of detailed rehearsal notes, including blocking, scenes, and character ideas.
– Help organize props, costumes, set pieces, and other rehearsal materials.
– Maintain lists of props, costumes, and set pieces.

Between Rehearsals:
– Transcribe selected rehearsal recordings and notes.
– Prepare and print materials needed for rehearsals.
– Track attendance and follow up with members.
– Communicate rehearsal information and updates to group members.
– Facilitate rehearsal sessions if the Associate Director is unavailable, using an agenda and direction provided in advance.
– Cultivate performance opportunities in consultation with the Associate Director.
– Coordinate rehearsal and performance schedules in consultation with the Associate Director.
– Promote performances and organize and monitor ticket sales.

Communication & Administration:
– Serve as a first point of contact for general inquiries and direct questions to the appropriate team members.
– Help manage day-to-day admin tasks and correspondence.
– Update the organization’s website and social media as needed.
– Assist with newsletters, recruitment, and other promotional activities.

QUALIFICATIONS
– Previous experience as a stage manager, assistant stage manager, or in a comparable theatre production role.
– Experience with collective creation, devised theatre or another collaborative process in the theatre context.
– Experience with or an interest in working with seniors and intergenerational groups in which seniors are included.
– Strong organizational skills including the ability to keep track of details, schedules, materials, and deadlines.
– Flexible, and solution-oriented when plans change or unexpected issues arise.
– Can communicate clearly and professionally with members, artists, volunteers, and staff.
– The ability to work independently while also being part of a collaborative team.
– Is reliable, punctual, and committed to attending scheduled rehearsals and performances.
– Has basic computer skills, including email, documents, social media, and the ability to work with websites and other online tools.
– Post-secondary education or training in theatre, stage management, or a related field will be considered an asset.
– Emergency First Aid with CPR & AED certification will be considered an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS
To meet the responsibilities of the position, the successful candidate will be expected to provide their own computer equipment, reliable internet connection, and transportation. A Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Check will be required as a condition of employment.

Rehearsals generally take place on Thursday and Monday afternoons. Additional evenings weekdays will be required to support rehearsals, performances, and production meetings.
