Even in his 60s, John Stamos is as much of a Hollywood heartthrob as he’s always been.
“I am getting old, although I don’t feel it,” the Full House alum, 62, told Us Weekly in an interview published on Tuesday, August 19, which happened to be his birthday. “I take care of myself.”
Stamos acknowledged that his sobriety has allowed him to embrace aging in a new way.
“I stopped drinking 10 years ago. That’s why I’m alive,” he explained. “I never would have met my wife [Caitlin McHugh] if I was still drinking. I’m happy where I’m at in my career, but I think I would be a lot further along if I’d stopped sooner. I got the job done, but I could have done it better, and I could have been more connected.”

Stamos added that McHugh, 39 — whom he tied the knot with in February 2018 — and their son, Billy, 7, changed his trajectory for the better.
“Getting married and having a child, that’s kept me young and kept me alive,” he gushed. “I think that’s helped with my longevity.”
In addition to his family, Stamos relies on a relatively simple self-care routine as he gets older.
“I don’t do a lot,” he insisted. “I wash my face. Depends on if there’s some scrub around. I work out three or four times a week. I do this electric muscle-stimulant thing where you put a suit on, but you only wear it for 20 minutes. But good sleep now is important. Having a young son helps.”
As for how he has remained relevant in the ever-changing Hollywood landscape, Stamos confessed he is “shocked myself that I’m still around.”
“If I could be humble about it, I think I’ve been a pretty nice person, and that goes a long way,” he said. “There’s 20 guys in line behind you that could do the job just as well. So hopefully my reputation has helped with that.”
