The Jonas Brothers are only four dates into their JONAS20 Tour, but they keep upping the ante when it comes to surprise guests.
On Friday, August 15 — less than a week after the band stunned the crowd at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium by bringing out Demi Lovato and Jesse McCartney — Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas had their Virginia Beach audience losing it once Hanson hit the stage. Surprise!

Not only did Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson perform their mega-hit “MMMBop” alongside their fellow band of brothers, but they also joined in on Jonas Brothers’ “That’s Just the Way We Roll” — a majorly meta move, as the lyrics name-drop the band. (“You’ve got moves, I’ve got shoes, let’s go dancing,” Jonas Brothers sing the second verse of the song, which the group released on their eponymous album in 2007. “Pop and lock, battle dance against Hanson.”)

As if the performances weren’t enough — and they were, as the band-of-brothers crossover instantly had pop fans in a chokehold — both bands actually acted out the lyrics backstage.
In an Instagram video jointly posted by Jonas Brothers and Hanson immediately following Friday night’s concert, all six musicians got into the “That’s Just the Way We Roll” spirit, with Nick kicking off the clip by pointing to the camera and lip-synching, “You’ve got moves.”
Joe — who celebrated his 36th birthday at the show — then showed off his black loafers (and studded jeans) as he did a slow-mo body roll to the lines, “I’ve got shoes / Let’s go dancing.”

In a clever play on “pop and lock,” Kevin locks the hotel room door, as the camera then cuts to Hanson.
“Battle dance against Hanson,” the music blasts, as Isaac and Zac move towards the camera, snapping their fingers. Zac lowers his sunglasses as Isaac beckons the Jonas Brothers to take them on. (Taylor, for his part, laughs in the background.)
“Unsure if this counts as our ‘battle dance’ but ❤️ @hanson,” the caption of the post reads.
“Who won?” Hanson joked in the comments section.
Hanson’s surprise performance at the Jonas Brothers’ Virginia show, of course, comes on the heels of Lovato’s own revelation at her Camp Rock co-stars’ tour kick-off show in New Jersey.
Reflecting on the moment, Lovato recalled on the Chicks in the Office podcast:
“Joe just asked me last week, he was like, ‘Hey, what are you doing next weekend on the 10th? We would love to have you come and perform ‘This Is Me’ and ‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing,’” the “Sober” singer shared, referring to the Camp Rock songs she performed.
Continuing Joe’s request, Lovato recalled him saying, “‘You’ve been a huge part of our journey and vice versa. This show is really important to us and we would love to have you there.'”
Lovato, who called the performance “so nice,” said it was “so healing for me too.”
“We’ve been through so much together all of us, the Jonas Brothers and I, and it was really, really great to spend time with them,” she gushed.
