Commander Wharton was introduced in Season 6 of The Handmaid’s Tale.
Wharton plays Nick Blaine’s (Max Minghella) father-in-law, who is highly protective of his pregnant daughter, Rose (Carey Cox). In the first episode of Season 6, the Gilead commander keeps a close eye on Nick, who he doesn’t seem to trust fully. (And for good reason, given his relationship with Moss’ June Osborne.)
In Episode 3, Wharton meets Serena Joy Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski), calling he a “remarkable salesperson” after she speaks to a group of diplomats about New Bethlehem, an experimental community in Gilead for refugees.
“I can’t remember the last time I’ve been that moved,” he told her.
Could there be a hint of flirting in his tone?
As viewers wait to learn more about Commander Wharton’s character arc, let’s take a closer look at his personal life.
