Justin Bieber has hit out at the paparazzi that follow him around, especially near his Los Angeles home, describing them as “f*ck boys treating me like sh*t” and making a reference to Princess Diana.
On Friday, April 25, Bieber shared a harrowing video with his 294 million+ followers on Instagram, which appeared to show paparazzi harassing him and taking photos of him near his home in Los Angeles, California.
“This has to stop,” the Canadian pop sensation wrote in his caption.
In the short clip, multiple people with cameras — many of which are flashing constantly — can be seen filming and taking photos of what appears to be Bieber.
Throughout the video, a voice can be heard saying “Look at these guys, man.”
Another voice repeatedly tells the men to “watch out,” “back up” and “go!”
Bieber, originally from London, Ontario, has lived in L.A. for the past few years with his famous wife, Hailey, and their young son, Jack.
Despite being settled and raising his son in the United States, concerned social media users urged Bieber to leave the city and consider moving elsewhere after viewing the distressing video.
“LEAVE LOS ANGELES,” one person said.
“I drive by Drake’s house every day on our way home from school. Never seen a paparazzi. That’s L.A. for you! Move to Toronto!” another Instagram user added.
Somebody else said, “The way you have been dealing with this for 15 years is crazy. You are constantly treated like a zoo animal by the paparazzi and public.”
The top comment, which had over 25,000 likes, said: “[I] Can’t believe this is legal.”
Another asked, “Why do you stay in LA?”
A little while later, Bieber returned to Instagram to make it clear that he wouldn’t be “bullied” out of L.A., where he believes his influence is “most needed.”
“How can we make a change if we run away from the darkness,” Bieber wrote on Friday.
“I too have been caught up in the transactional nature of Hollywood. It’s embarrassing but with that said, I want nothing to do with that as a grown adult with a wife and son,” he continued.
In a third Instagram post, shared a short while later, Bieber shared a photo of a lion alongside a lengthy caption reading, “I BELIEVE GOD IS MY LION.”
He continued, “I’M CURRENTLY ASKING HIM TO HELP ME WITH PATIENCE BECAUSE It CAN BE REALLY HARD TO NOT RIP THESE F*CKIN GUYS HEADS OFF.”
The 31-year-old popstar said he is “forgiving himself” and his “own selfishness” while also forgiving “those who seek to use and abuse” him because “they want to capitalize off” him.
“Their jealousy makes them want to make me feel small like how they feel,” he commented.
He also made reference to the death of Princess Diana in 1997. The Princess of Wales died along with Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul after their vehicle crashed in a tunnel in Paris in the early hours of August 31. They were reportedly fleeing from paparazzi at the time of the accident.
“However, you slice it, I’m getting hit from all angles, and I’m no victim,” Bieber wrote.
“I moved to LA knowing it’s f*cked out here. But can we as a unit align with how f*cked it is out here and change this sh*t or are we gonna let these f*ck boys keep treating me like sh*t and not change laws or anything because people have had to die because of this s**t, Princess Diana is the first that comes to mind, SMH.”
Bieber ended the emotional post by saying, “We gotta do better please can we make a change?”
Come home, Justin. The people of Ontario will nurture you!
