The late actress faced a personal and professional setback in 2022 following a DUI incident in which she crashed her car into an electric transformer. As a result of the accident, Kim had her license revoked.
She posted a personal apology for the incident on social media and reportedly spoke with the businesses affected by the accident, but her career stalled when her agency dropped her. Kim was set to make her return to the entertainment industry this year with a new movie on the way.
A friend of the actress spoke with Osen local news about Kim’s state of mind shortly before her death, noting that they last talked with her at the end of last year. They said, “She was coming back with the movie Guitar Man and was going to act and make money, but I didn’t know it would turn out like this.”
“Kim Sae-ron recently changed her name to Kim Ah-im and was preparing to open a cafe and return to the entertainment industry. I can’t believe it either,” the friend went on. “I didn’t get any signs, and I told them to call me if they were having a hard time…”
No official cause of death has been shared at this time.
