Karol G proudly showed off her riches in a metallic gold bikini.
The 34-year-old Colombian singer — whose no-holds barred reggaeton hits and fiercely unapologetic attitude have catapulted her into crossover stardom — stunned her 70 million Instagram followers with her recent upload, in which she posed in a series of photos and videos while rocking a knock-out glittering two-piece on a tropical beach. The bikini footage marked her first Instagram grid post in nearly four months.
The first picture in the carousel, which received more than 6 million likes, featured Karol G taking a selfie that showed off her bronzed skin, offset by her skimpy gold bikini top, which put her cleavage front and center. The “Tusa” singer got fun and flirty with the photo, scrunching up her nose at the camera while her long, beachy hair cascaded down her shoulder.
Other photos in the upload included body shots of Karol G posing in the crystal-clear water, soaking up the sun and kneeling in the sand. In one cheeky picture, the Grammy winner posed from behind, glancing at the camera with an over-the-shoulder stare. Her tanned and toned figure was on full display in the snaps, her tattoos peeking out in the sun.
The comments section of the post was filled with love and praise for the singer, with nearly all messages referring to her as reina (queen). Though the vast majority of the comments were in Spanish, Karol G’s native tongue, the frequently-used flame emoji transcended any language barrier.
Thousands of fans were so psyched to see the upload after such a long social media break that they couldn’t help but comment about how long it had been since her last post.
Even viral social media personality and former adult film star Mia Khalifa couldn’t help but praise Karol G’s new photos — and note her long absence. “Thank god, we were starving😭,” she gushed.
Other comments were translated from Spanish, like a follower who praised her bronzed look.
“That tan is beautifulllll 😍,” they wrote.
Karol G has long been candid about the double standard that women — and particularly, as a woman in the male-dominated Latin music industry — are subjected to. In a 2021 interview with The Guardian, she spoke about her decision to be so open about relationships and how she expresses herself in general.
“As women – as humans more so than as women – we fall in love, we fall out of love; we have sex, we like it, or we don’t; we make mistakes,” she shared. “Why should people ask me to limit how I express myself as a human just because I’m a woman?”
Karol G’s latest upload ties into her new Netflix documentary, Karol G: Tomorrow was Beautiful, which dropped its first trailer on Thursday, April 22. The candid, behind-the-scenes film will drop on the streaming platform May 8.
