Katy Perry Accused of Using AI in Tour Visuals After Space Flight Backlash

27 April 20252 Mins Read

Not long after her Blue Origin space flight faced backlash, Katy Perry launched her Lifetimes Tour with the first concert in Mexico City, Mexico on April 23. Now, she’s facing another controversy as she and her team are being accused of using artificial intelligence (AI) to create some of her concert visuals.

After the first tour show, videos from Perry’s performance flooded the internet, and many noticed that visuals during one section of the show looked like they were AI-created images.

One X user with the username @jacnights13 shared a clip from the show and wrote, “Like this is literally ai.”

The response to the accusations was mixed, with replies that ranged from “Jesus christ. What an absolute trainwreck,” to “It looks so cute I love it.”

There were some who defended the possible use of AI, like one who wrote, “the point of the tour is that she is ‘fighting’ the ai. other videos show her shooting / punching the screens. she’s actively agreeing that AI is trash.”

Another argued, “it’s for the theme of the tour do you guys even know what your talking about . the song is LITERALLY called ARTIFICAL.”

“AI for the 143 tour is very on brand i must say,” read a different comment, while another fan questioned, “So what’s wrong with it?”

But many didn’t agree with the use of AI, such as those who said, “It’s giving zero effort and low budget,” “Happy that I didn’t buy tickets :/ I don’t like how people use ai for art this is sad,” and “Yikes 😬.”

Fans continued debating the potential use of AI for Perry’s concert visuals on social media. As of writing, it has not been officially confirmed whether or not Perry’s team used AI to create the images.
