Katy Perry & Justin Trudeau got drinks at this Montreal bar after their viral ‘dinner date’

30 July 20252 Mins Read

The dinner date that shook Montreal (and the world, for that matter) just got a little more interesting.

Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made headlines on Tuesday when it was revealed that he and popstar Katy Perry shared a cozy dinner at Le Violon, one of Montreal’s hottest new restaurants. But according to TMZ, that wasn’t the end of their night.

In a follow-up story published on July 29, the American tabloid site reported that the two were later spotted at Taverne Atlantic, a popular bar with a rooftop terrace in the city’s Mile-Ex neighbourhood. TMZ even shared a shot of Perry and Trudeau strolling into the establishment — with Trudeau’s arm appearing to rest behind the singer.

Earlier in the evening, the pair were photographed through the window of Le Violon, reportedly enjoying cocktails and a lobster dinner. MTL Blog acquired the following video of the unlikely duo chatting at the table.

Danny Smiles, head chef at Le Violion, speculated on the nature of the intimate meal, saying, “I think it’s friendly, but the restaurant’s a romantic setting.”

But what about the nightcap spot they chose?

Located on Parc Avenue, Taverne Atlantic is known for its art deco interiors, creative cocktails, and relaxed rooftop atmosphere, making it a go-to spot for date nights and casual drinks with friends alike. TMZ reported that Perry ordered a Jack and Coke, but since the Société des Alcools du Québec (SAQ) recently removed all American-made alcoholic products from its shelves, she settled for Canadian Club whisky.

Since both Perry and Trudeau are single, it’s no surprise their night out has sparked plenty of rumours, and even more memes.

And whether they’re just friends or something more, Montrealers may want to keep their eyes peeled — Perry’s still in town for her Bell Centre concert on Wednesday night.
