Is dating in the cards for Kelly Clarkson now that she has a little more free time on her hands?
The Grammy winner shared a rare update on her love life during an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast.
When hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers asked directly if she’s currently dating, Clarkson revealed that she’s not—and isn’t interested in doing so right now.
As for why? Her kids.
“I think there’s a lot behind that, but I think that would rock their boat a little bit,” she explained.
Clarkson is a mom to daughter River, 12, and son Remington, 10, whom she shares with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
Blackstock and Clarkson were married to from 2013 to 2022, though she filed for divorce in 2020.

Clarkson also made it clear that a relationship isn’t something she’s willing to prioritize at the moment.
“I feel like if you’re going to be in a relationship, you have to be willing to give some of your time up,” Clarkson said, declaring, “And I am unwilling.”
Instead, the singer is embracing a slower pace of life. After wrapping The Kelly Clarkson Show this summer after seven seasons, she’s focusing on what she calls “embracing the calmness.”
“I love my life right now,” she shared. “It just got to where I am not exhausted at every point of it.”
For years, Clarkson has balanced a demanding career, including her eponymous talk show, a stint as a coach on The Voice, a Las Vegas residency, and her successful music career. She even hosted the Billboard Music Awards for three consecutive years.
Now that she’s taking some much-needed me-time, she’s “having fun” spending time with her kids and doing all the things she wasn’t able to do when they were younger.
“We’re cooking, we’re playing games. I’m there at pickup, or I’m there dropping off. I’m there,” Clarkson said.
Clarkson, who moved from Los Angeles to New York in 2023 for her show, admitted that it’s exciting to live in a big city filled with “different cultures,” a shift from her upbringing in Houston.
And the closest thing to a “lover” in her life right now is actually AI.
“My lover, ChatGPT,” she jokingly admitted, elaborating on her addiction to the technology.
“Controversial, I don’t care. Here’s the thing, I love AI. There are very amazing things with AI that I’m obsessed with. I’m very into it artistically, too. I have fun with it just like everybody else does,” she explained.
While she doesn’t think AI-generated artists should compete with human musicians on the charts, she does “welcome” it to the table creatively.
“I think it’s really cool and creative what we’re going to create with AI, musically… I think it’s a fun field to play in. But I don’t think they should be competing with humans,” she added.
She even revealed she uses AI to help design spaces in her home, and who knows, it may have even inspired her recent style refresh.
