Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos haven’t just been married since 1996—the couple has also co-hosted a morning talk show for almost two years.
While the two seemingly get along most of the time, Ripa did have a bone to pick with Consuelos during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The two guested on the talk show’s Feb. 27 episode, where the topic of Consuelos joining the show, which Ripa has hosted since 2001, came up.
Ripa teased that they “need two couches” before answering, “I think it’s been great!”

She continued, explaining that they “don’t really talk about work at home, ever, because we’re there so we don’t have to fill each other in. We already know, and what happened and how bad or good it was.”
Consuelos chimed in, noting that “when we do talk about it, we often forget who was on the show that day.” Host Jimmy Kimmel said the same thing happens to him, calling it “embarrassing.”
“I don’t know what it is! It’s like amnesia; it allows you to continue on with the rest of your career,” said Ripa.
Kimmel shared that the topic reminded him of something that happened the previous week on Live With Kelly and Mark, and threw to a clip of Ripa telling Consuelos that she thought he “just drifted off and started thinking about something else” in the middle of an on-air conversation.
“I’ve been married to you long enough to know when you’re not listening to me and you are thinking about… you’ve moved on, and I’m trying to think about what it is you could possibly be thinking about,” Ripa said in the clip.
Consuelos admitted that he was thinking that he had forgotten to order lunch that day, and that he “should have gotten the chicken breast and not the salmon.”
As the Kimmel audience laughed, Ripa turned to the talk show host and said, “it happens a lot.”
“As a husband, you just, sometimes you know, you wait for those keywords like ‘police,’ ‘help,’ and I was just having a moment, I was literally thinking about lunch,” Consuelos said.
The couple admitted that it happens a lot at home, too. “That moment at home is 99% of the conversation!” exclaimed Ripa. “At least pretend you’re paying attention to me on air,” the veteran television personality continued. “From nine until 10, it’s not that hard!”
“Sometimes I just take a little nap during the show,” quipped Consuelos.
