Kelsea Ballerini is setting the record straight on her previous appearance on Bravo’s Southern Charm—and the blind date that she almost went on with Craig Conover.
Earlier in her career, the country songstress was featured on an episode of the Bravo reality show’s second season in 2015. She attended a charity auction and bid on a date with Conover, a situation that she says still “haunts” her to this day.

“Oh God, it haunts me forever,” Ballerini, 31, said while appearing in a new Instagram video for Cosmopolitan‘s “Cheap Shots.”
“I have to tell this story to clear this up,” the “Peter Pan” singer said, noting that she didn’t remember how much she bid on Conover, now 36, and that the whole interaction was set up by her managers.
“I was on radio tour and I was doing a show for the radio station on a boat and they were filming ‘Southern Charm’ on the boat,” Ballerini explained, insisting that she had no knowledge the show was even filming on the same boat.
“I was just there playing ‘Love Me Like You Mean It,’ being like, ‘Hey, radio station, play my song!'”
“Little did I know my label had set up the fact that I was going to bid on a date. I didn’t know,” she explained. “I get pushed into frame. Bid it. Got the date.”

Even though Ballerini was presented as the winner of the date with Conover—for a cool $5,001—she insists she never even went on the date with the Sewing Down South founder.
“Some winner from the radio station got it,” she said.
“You’re probably better off,” one of the people in the background of the Cosmopolitan clip told Ballerini, who is now in a serious relationship with actor Chase Stokes.
Before dating the Outer Banks star, Ballerini was married to Australian country singer Morgan Evans until they divorced in 2022.
“Everything is great as it turned out,” the “Penthouse” songstress further quipped in the new video.
