Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s Anniversary Post Has Fans Saying They ‘Look Virtually the Same’ After 38 Years

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are giving fans another reason to believe in lasting love after 38 years of marriage.

Bacon and Sedgwick marked their anniversary with a simple but sentimental Instagram post, writing, “38 years with my love.” The longtime couple’s milestone quickly drew a flood of congratulatory comments, with fans praising their enduring relationship, calling them role models and marveling that they seemingly haven’t changed in nearly four decades. One fan even joked that the photo “cannot be from 38 years ago” because the couple “look virtually the same.”

Fans responded with anniversary wishes and heart emojis, with one calling their marriage “a true testament of how much you love each other and the commitment to one another.” Others praised Bacon and Sedgwick as “a great example to the world” and “the greatest role models ever.”

In a recent interview with People, the couple opened up about how, even after nearly four decades together, they still manage to surprise one another.

“I find that she is constantly surprising me,” Bacon said. “Not only with who she is, because she’s someone who is never stuck in one sort of idea. She’s much more willing to experience new things or try new things or change her mind about [things].”

He continued, “Like, she’s got a movie now called Carolina Caroline. It’s like one scene, and it’s an amazing, surprising kind of performance. I didn’t see her do it, but we were talking from the set. She said, ‘I’m really going for it, I hope it’s going to be okay,’ and I saw it and I was like, ‘Holy s—. I haven’t seen you do this before,’ so that’s cool as a performer and a person.”

Sedgwick and Bacon met and fell in love in 1987 while filming Lemon Sky, which premiered the following year. Sedgwick later recalled on Conan that Bacon had arranged a group dinner for the cast, but she didn’t attend. Instead, he suggested she get a massage at the hotel where he was staying.

Sedgwick suggested that if his gym workout and her massage ended around the same time, they could meet for dinner afterward. “And I’m thinking, ‘Yeah, sure, that’s not going to happen. I’m not going to tell him when my massage is,’” she recalled. Years later, Bacon revealed that he had actually called the hotel to find out when her massage was scheduled. “Which is kind of creepy, but whatever,” Sedgwick joked.

The couple got engaged in December 1987 and married the following year. They welcomed their first child, Travis, in 1989, followed by daughter Sosie Ruth in 1992.

Decades into their marriage, Sedgwick has made it clear that the spark between them hasn’t faded. In a 2013 interview with Redbook, she said that when Bacon walks into a room, her “heart gets a little fluttery,” adding, “He’s so cute. He’s so hot.” She also said he remained “a mystery” to her, joking that the attraction was still “palpable” on set.
