KFC is apparently testing a pocket-sized version of an incredibly popular comfort food item—and it couldn’t have picked a better time to do so.
As much of the East Coast battles the bitter cold, KFC appears to have rolled out smaller, fun-sized versions of a familiar and hearty dish that’ll warm fans from the inside out: a Handheld Chicken Pot Pie.
While the international fast-food chain already offers a classic chicken pot pie, the new version that’s reportedly being tested is attracting attention for its improved portability, increased dough-to-filling ratio, and the endless “menu hacks” that could be contrived with it.

According to a description provided on Postmates’ website, the new test item is “everything you love about our classic Pot Pie, now baked into a golden, hand-held crust.” It’s filled with “tender fried chicken, hearty potatoes, peas, carrots, and savory sauce for comfort you can take anywhere.”

“I would definitely give this a try,” one Reddit user admitted. “Their pot pies are excellent when they’re made well. I’ve had a few that were short on chicken, but when they’re good, they’re really good!”
“Sounds pretty good!” another cheered, before a third chimed in: “I’d try it!”
“IN on KFC and pot pies,” someone else teased on X (formerly Twitter). “I’d definitely give this one a try.”

“It looks like a savory Amish pie without the icing,” a different social media user wrote, adding that they’re so “IN !!!”
“YES!!!!! 🔥,” an excited Instagram user cheered before going on to admit that they “never think about eating at KFC, but I definitely will now if they have this!”
“That looks good,” another shared, adding that it could be made even better if “dipped in KFC gravy.”
There were also a few comments teasing the item over its presentation, suggesting it’s somewhere between a “Hot Pocket clone” and an empanada. “Don’t burn [the] roof of mouth please,” one joked.
Others wondered how much the newcomer costs and where it’s being tested.
While KFC hasn’t officially announced which locations are serving the item, several trusted sources (including MetroNews radio broadcaster Dave Weekley and food blogger Snackolator) report that it’s available at select participating locations in Alabama, Georgia, Rhode Island, and South Carolina. Prices vary by location, but most range from $2.99 to $3.99.
