King Charles Praises 'Exceptional' American Pop Star on New Radio Show

10 March 20253 Mins Read

King Charles now has his own radio show on Apple Music and he’s using the platform to share his love of the music of Beyoncé and others.

In the debut episode of The King’s Music Room, Charles shared “songs which have brought me joy” with a wildly eclectic playlist during the show that runs just over an hour.

His second to last selection was Beyoncé’s 2003 hit collab with her husband Jay-Z “Crazy in Love.”

”First from a performer so exceptional that I just couldn’t resist including her music,” King Charles said, as he introduced the song. “She performed this song at then Prince’s Trust Fashion Rocks concert in the Royal Albert Hall in 2003. Now the King’s Trust international is turning 10 years old this year, and as I mentioned earlier, the renamed King’s Trust UK will reach its 50th anniversary next year.”

He also took the opportunity to congratulate the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer for “winning her first Album of the Year Grammy” for the genre-blending collection Cowboy Carter.

“I wanted to include an iconic musical moment from the many events which have supported my trust work for young people over all these years. Here is one of the trust’s most faithful supporters, the incomparable Beyoncé with her song ‘Crazy in Love,’” he said as he introduced the hit.

During the show, King Charles also played Bob Marley & the Wailers’ “Could You Be Love,” “My Boy Lollipop” by Millie Small, Kylie Minogue’s version of “The Loco-Motion,” and other selections before wrapping things up with Diana Ross’ “Upside Down.”

Between the songs, he shared many personal reflections on what the songs mean to him.

“Throughout my life music has meant a great deal to me,” the royal said in a video posted on Instagram on March 7. “I know that is also the case for so many others. But it has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories flooding back from the deepest recesses of our memory, to comfort us in times of sadness and take us to distant places.”

“But perhaps above all,” he added. “It can lift our spirits to such a degree. All the most so when it brings us together in celebration. In other words, it brings us joy.”

The King’s Music Room debuted on Apple Music 1 on March 10 at 6 a.m. GMT, for free, or is available anytime on demand with an Apple Music subscription. There will also be additional radio broadcasts available, for free, on Apple Music 1 and Apple Music Hits throughout March 10 and 11.
