Lamar Odom Walks Back Comment He Married Khloe Kardashian for Clout

Lamar Odom’s Netflix documentary Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom exposed a few revelations from the NBA champion’s point of view that left some viewers giving him the side-eye. One major area of discussion was his whirlwind courtship and marriage to Khloe Kardashian. In one scene, one of Odom’s friends alleged that Odom confessed he married Kardashian for clout, as her family’s empire was expanding and afforded him access that even being a Laker did not.

Kardashian slammed him in an episode of her Khloe in Wonder Land podcast, vowing to never speak of her relationship with Odom again, and reminding him that she did him a favor by participating in the documentary overall. In a recent appearance on the Nothing’s Off the Table podcast, Odom said the idea that he married Kardashian for clout is untrue.

“That wasn’t it at all. I fell in love with a young, beautiful woman,” Odom insists. “At the time, I can’t really help it that our lives, the way they emerged, were so glorious that people can’t really understand how I fu–ked it up. But I was thinking and moving like an addict.”

Odom also received backlash for saying Kardashian didn’t save him and help nurse him back to health after his near-fatal 2015 overdose. In an interview with Today, Odom said boldly, “God saved me.”

Fans will recall that Odom and Kardashian met and married within 30 days. Odom was heavily featured on the family’s reality show, and they even had a two-season spinoff. But after four years of marriage riddled with infidelity, trauma, and drug use on Odom’s part, Kardashian filed for divorce. Their divorce dragged on and was halted once Odom nearly died of a near-fatal overdose. Following Odom’s relapse in 2017, she filed for divorce a final time, and they didn’t speak for nearly a decade.
