Las Vegas Sands has started construction on an $8 billion resort and entertainment complex in Singapore, featuring a 55-storey hotel tower and a 15,000-seat arena.

Las Vegas Sands has started construction on a new $8 billion development in Singapore. The project includes a 55-storey hotel tower and a 15,000-seat arena, situated next to the existing Marina Bay Sands. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and other officials.

The hotel tower will feature 570 luxury suites, dining options, retail spaces, gaming facilities, and wellness amenities. It will also include approximately 200,000 square feet of meeting space. The arena is designed to host major live entertainment events and is expected to enhance the live entertainment scene in Asia.

The project is designed by Safdie Architects, known for their work on Marina Bay Sands. The hotel tower will incorporate biophilic design elements and green amenities. The Skyloop, a 76,000-square-foot feature, will offer public and private spaces, including an observatory, restaurants, and gardens. The development will also focus on sustainability, using materials with reduced environmental impact and implementing a construction waste management plan.

The arena, designed by Populous, will be optimized for acoustics and production flexibility. It will be integrated with existing developments in the Marina Bay area, providing access to Bayfront MRT station and other local attractions.

The groundbreaking event featured performances by local and international artists and a culinary experience from Marina Bay Sands’ restaurants. The event also included a public light display across the Marina Bay Sands property.

Las Vegas Sands has invested over $15 billion in Singapore since 2010, contributing significantly to the local economy and tourism industry. The new development is expected to further boost high-value tourism and create new job opportunities.
