Laura Dern Reveals Her Favorite Person to Kiss On Screen & Why She Told His Wife

Laura Dern has had plenty of on screen romances but she admits there’s one person who she’s deemed the best kissing partner.

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Friday (Jan. 30), Dern opened up about her experience kissing other actors throughout her career and addressed rumors that she puts her Jay Kelly co-star Adam Sandler at the top of the list.

When Barrymore asked her to confirm whether there was any truth to rumors, Dern couldn’t help but agree.

“It’s just the truth,” Dern admitted, adding that she didn’t shy away from even telling Sandler’s wife Jackie about her feelings.

“The first person I said it to was Jackie Sandler, who is the greatest person we’ve ever met,” Dern said, to which Barrymore agreed.

Dern starred alongside Sandler, as well as George Clooney, in their 2025 film Jay Kelly. The Netflix film follows a self absorbed movie star and his manager as they embark on an unexpected journey across Europe and reconnect with people from their past.

Dern previously opened up about the kiss with Sandler in an interview with Netflix, explaining that it was there were a lot of factors that helped make the moment so special.

“I love the dialogue between Adam and I on the train platform. I will say, I think it’s my favorite on screen kiss that I’ve ever been part of because it is so romantic and boundaried and not about any of the things you would project onto it,” Dern explained.

She continued, “For me, it’s such a cinema kiss where every craftsperson involved in making it right…It just felt like one of those things that held all the gifts [director Noah Baumbach] was looking for in terms of telling that story. It felt very beautiful to me.”

Jay Kelly is streaming now on Netflix.
