According to the Associated Press, Trump said on Monday that the 25 percent taxes on imports from Mexico and Canada would kick in even sooner—starting today, March 4, and sparking renewed concern over a trade war between countries. Following his remarks, the stock market’s S&P 500 index dropped two percent, per the publication. At the time of writing, it had dropped another 1.2 percent on Tuesday.
Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday, per the publication, that “there is no justification” for the move and affirmed his plan to retaliate with a 25 percent tariff on American goods.
In response, other social media users suggested it was “once again time to bring back the lesson on tariffs from Ferris Bueller,” sharing a clip from the hit film starring Matthew Broderick.

Snopes has been unable to confirm nor deny its legitimacy, but it’s not the first time the screenshot has made the rounds, with internet users also flooding the social media platform with it after the Dow dropped 1,378 points during Trump’s first presidency.
