‘Leanne’ Season 2 Wraps Filming at Netflix Ahead of 2026 Return

15 April 20263 Mins Read

Leanne. (L to R) Tim Daly as Andrew, Leanne Morgan, and Kristen Johnston as Carol in Episode #110 of Leanne. Cr. Patrick McElhenney/Netflix

Production has officially wrapped on the highly anticipated second season of Leanne, Chuck Lorre and Leanne Morgan’s hit multi-cam comedy.

After dropping its 16-episode first season in July 2025 and immediately dominating the Netflix Global Top 10, it didn’t take long for Netflix to greenlight a second season of the Southern-fried sitcom last October. Now, we’re happy to report that the cameras have stopped rolling on season 2, and we’ve got a bounty of new details to share, including writers, new cast members, and some new episode titles.

Filming Has Officially Wrapped on Season 2

As you may know, multi-cam sitcoms generally have a pretty fast turnaround time. Production on the second season kicked off earlier this year, with episodes taping between late January and the end of March 2026 in Los Angeles in front of a live studio audience.

‘Leanne’ Renewed For Season 2 At Netflix

Over the weekend, members of the cast and crew took to social media to celebrate the end of production. This aligns with filming dates on the 1ioata website, which lists the finale taping for April 10th.

How Many Episodes Will Be in Leanne Season 2?

Here’s where things get a little interesting.

So far, we have firm confirmation of at least eight episodes for season 2.

We reached out to Netflix for clarification on the episode count. A representative poured cold water on our theory, suggesting that an eight-episode count is not the case, although they declined to comment further on exactly how many there’d be.

Considering season 1 was a massive 16-episode order, it’s entirely possible that Netflix is either keeping quiet on a much larger season (or multi-season) order here. Another reason why our spidey senses are tingling is that early on, some production websites hinted at an August wrap, and obviously, we’re quite some way away from that.

Leanne Season 2 Episode Titles & Writers

Who’s in the writers’ room for the second season? As expected, co-creator Chuck Lorre and executive producer Nick Bakay are back in full force, kicking things off by providing the story for the season premiere. Beyond those, you can expect heavy involvement from Mark Gross, Julie Bean, and Amy Hubbs, who frequently tag-teamed both teleplay and story duties throughout the run. Rounding out the room and securing various writing credits across episodes two through eight are John Jack O’Brien, Kelly Farrell, and Alexandra Melnick.

Who is joining the cast of Leanne Season 2?

Naturally, we expect Leanne Morgan to return alongside her ride-or-die sister Carol (Kristen Johnston) and the rest of the season 1 favorites, including Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Jayma Mays, Annie Gonzalez, Blake Gibbons, and Graham Rogers.

But we’ve also spotted a few new names floating around on IMDb for the upcoming season.

  • Tyne Daly will guest star as Nancy in 1 episode. (Fun fact: Tyne Daly is the real-life sister of Tim Daly, who was a series regular in season 1!)
  • Jimmy Walker Jr. (The Disappearance of Toby Blackwood) will appear as Gus
  • Todd Giebenhain (Superstore) as Garrett
  • Kristen O’Meara as Kelly
  • Dale E. Turner as Larry
  • Alex Alcheh as Danny

Netflix has yet to confirm those names and did not respond to a request for comment when we reached out, so we’ll keep you posted.

Are you looking forward to season 2 of Leanne? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for more intel soon!
