Legendary Singer, 80, Teases Huge Onstage Surprises After Canceling 6 Concerts Due to Illness

18 June 20252 Mins Read

Rod Stewart may have had to cancel six concerts and postpone two earlier this month, but the “Forever Young” icon, 80, is planning on making his big comeback next week at the famed Glastonbury music festival.

Not only will Stewart perform as part of the Legends Slot at the A-list music fest, the “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?” singer plans to bring three artists onstage with him, he teased in a new interview with Radio Times. One performer is already known: Stewart previously revealed that Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood would join him onstage. (The musicians were also in the band Faces together.) The other two remain a mystery, one Stewart — who was forced to cancel his shows earlier this month due to a bad bout of the flu — was all too happy to tease.

Stewart also revealed exactly what’s on his rider for the show.

“I looked at it the other day and I thought, what is all this s**t doing here?” he questioned. “All I need is a few bottles of wine and some crisps, and that’s it.”

He also wasted no time going off on the selection of food pre-planned for him and his bandmates. “And there’s all these bloody things! What am I gonna do with them? No hummus, but big piles of bananas and apples!” Stewart vented. “And when you think the whole world’s bloody starving. I gotta do something about that.”

Still, not too much has changed when it comes to the after-parties of Stewart’s early career.

“The band have their booze that they request and I have mine. But I think why I love touring now is that we have the best after-gig party. All the girls come, we all get showered, all the girls are dancing,” Stewart told the outlet.

There are some differences now, however. “We put music on and we’re all having a laugh,” the musician revealed. “It’s so much more fun than it was in the old days with just the guys. So many egos and drug-taking. It’s brilliant, I love it now.”
