Crime never sleeps, and neither does Liam Neeson. Right off the premiere of his successful Naked Gun revival as the bumbling detective Frank Drebin Jr., Neeson is back to tease his next movie with a good mix of blood, guts, and humor. Cold Storage stars Neeson as a grizzled bioterror operative going into the fray alongside two young employees (Stranger Things star Joe Keery and Barbarian‘s Georgina Campbell) as they attempt to contain (and then survive) a mutating, zombie-like fungus contained in a top-secret sealed facility.
So basically, the plot of Resident Evil.
The trailer promises a healthy mix of sci-fi, horror and comedy, perfect for a leading man coming off of a joke-per-minute satire like Naked Gun. There’s a head explosion akin to the movie Scanners, fungus mutations similar to The Last of Us, and copious amounts of blood and slime à la Return of the Living Dead. Needless to say, this is a hodgepodge of genre tropes that knows not to take itself too seriously.
British film and television director Jonny Campbell directs Cold Storage, with the screenplay penned by David Koepp, author of the original 2019 novel. Koepp’s best-known screenplays include Jurassic Park, The Lost World, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Check out Cold Storage when it infects theaters sometime in 2026.
