Paramount’s hit espionage thriller Special Ops: Lioness has enjoyed a highly successful licensed run on Netflix in several international territories over the past year. However, if you’re in Canada, Australia, or Latin America, you’ll need to finish your binge soon, as the series is set to depart in mid-April 2026.
Created by Taylor Sheridan (the mastermind behind Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, and Tulsa King), Special Ops: Lioness originally premiered on Paramount+. Featuring a star-studded cast led by Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman, and Nicole Kidman, the gritty action series follows a CIA operative tasked with befriending the daughter of a suspected terrorist to bring down his organization from the inside.
As part of Paramount’s ongoing strategy to license select shows to Netflix to boost their viewership, the eight-episode first season touched down on Netflix in 9 countries throughout 2025. Now, those one-year licensing windows are beginning to expire. The series never made its way onto Netflix US, although that might change given that a number of shows are set to arrive on Netflix in due course from Paramount+.
The series, despite being available in only a handful of countries, saw strong viewership on Netflix, with over 100 million hours watched throughout 2025, equating to around 18.3M views.
Which regions are losing Special Ops: Lioness?
Currently, Special Ops: Lioness is streaming on Netflix in at least 9 countries. For the majority of these territories, the series was added in mid-April 2025 on a strict one-year license.
If you live in the following regions, the series will expire and be removed from Netflix on April 16th or April 17th, 2026 (depending on your exact time zone):
- Argentina (Leaving April 17)
- Australia (Leaving April 16)
- Brazil (Leaving April 17)
- Canada (Leaving April 17)
- Colombia (Leaving April 17)
- Mexico (Leaving April 17)
Your Netflix app will soon start displaying a “Last day to watch” notice for the title. Once it leaves, it will revert exclusively to Paramount+ in these regions.
Is Special Ops: Lioness leaving Netflix UK?
If you’re reading this from the United Kingdom (or Germany and Italy), you can breathe a sigh of relief. You have plenty of time left to finish the first season.
Unlike the Americas and Australia, Netflix in the UK, Germany, and Italy did not receive the series until September 24th, 2025. Because Netflix secured a standard one-year licensing deal for these territories as well, the show will remain available to stream for a few more months.
We expect Special Ops: Lioness to depart Netflix UK, Germany, and Italy exactly one year after its addition: September 24th, 2026. We’ll keep you updated as we get closer to the fall to confirm its official removal.
Of course, the best place to watch the show following the deparutre is on Paramount+ which also streams season 2 and the eventual third season.
