Marriott Signs Agreement to Open Four City Express Hotels in El Salvador
Marriott International has signed an agreement with Corporación Polaris and Cardedeu to open four City Express by Marriott properties in El Salvador, adding 440 rooms to the region.
Marriott International has announced a new agreement with Corporación Polaris and Cardedeu to introduce the City Express by Marriott brand to El Salvador. Four properties will be opened, collectively adding 440 rooms to Marriott’s portfolio in the country. The move is part of Marriott’s strategy to expand its presence in the affordable midscale segment across the Caribbean and Latin America.
The planned properties include City Centro by Marriott San Salvador, City Express by Marriott Aeropuerto, City Express by Marriott Santa Elena, and City Express Plus by Marriott San Benito.
City Centro by Marriott San Salvador will open by the end of this year and offer 31 rooms in the historic center of San Salvador. The hotel will be near key tourist attractions such as the National Library, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and Plaza Cívica.
City Express by Marriott Aeropuerto will open in late 2026, connecting San Salvador’s metro area and the international airport. Also slated for 2026, City Express by Marriott Santa Elena will be situated along the Pan-American Highway, in a district known for its residential and commercial activities. By late 2027, City Express Plus by Marriott San Benito will open in the San Benito district, an area recognized for its business, dining, and cultural venues.
This expansion into El Salvador aligns with Marriott’s broader growth plans for the City Express brand, which include anticipated openings in Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Peru, the United States, and Canada.
Marriott’s decision to expand in El Salvador comes amid a period of significant growth in the country’s tourism and business sectors. The introduction of these new properties is expected to meet the increasing demand for hotel accommodations in the region.
The City Express by Marriott brand is part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio, which includes over 30 hotel brands.
