Disney announced on Tuesday that the company is eliminating several jobs across the company in a new round of layoffs. A source tells FOX Business that it could include up to 1,000 employees in the film and television divisions.

What we know:

The announcement came from new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro, according to a company memo obtained by Fox News Digital. According to the Associated Press, the cuts will likely come from the company’s marketing group, which was reorganized in January, and other parts of the company including its traditional television businesses, ESPN, products and technology, its movie studio and certain corporate functions.

Deadline is reporting Marvel will be impacted as well, with staff reductions at both offices of Marvel Entertainment in New York and Marvel Studios in Burbank.

What they’re saying:

“Over the past several months, we have looked at ways in which we can streamline our operations in various parts of the company to ensure we deliver the world-class creativity and innovation our fans value and expect from Disney,” D’Amaro wrote in the memo.

He continued, “Given the fast-moving pace of our industries, this requires us to constantly assess how to foster a more agile and technologically-enabled workforce to meet tomorrow’s needs. As a result, we will be eliminating roles in some parts of the company and have begun notifying impacted employees.”

The backstory:

D’Amaro only recently stepped into the role as CEO, succeeding Bob Iger in March. Previously he served as chairman of Disney Experiences, which includes the company’s theme parks, cruise line, resorts and consumer products.
