Marvel’s Releases First Official VisionQuest Trailer at D23

Marvel Studios’ VisionQuest, the conclusion of the series trilogy that started with WandaVision, got a first look at D23 on Friday, revealing what Paul Bettany’s Vision has been up to since fleeing Westview. The first trailer for VisionQuest shows that Vision, much like his partner Wanda Maximoff, is really going through some stuff.

VisionQuest‘s first trailer also shows how little robot Vision we’re getting in the series compared to human Vision. While there are glimpses of the character’s robotic superhuman form, many of the robotic consciousnesses in VisionQuest are shown in human avatar form. That includes James Spader’s Ultron, who looks just like… James Spader.

Suffice it to say, VisionQuest looks fun. And just as weirder, if not weirder, than WandaVision. Much like Wanda’s and Agatha’s journeys in their respective Marvel Television Disney Plus shows, Vision is grappling with the reality of his own life and the nature of his own offspring.

Here’s Marvel’s official synopsis:

Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.

Joining Bettany in VisionQuest is a long list of new and returning characters, including James Spader, who returns as the evil robot Ultron (and a sassy middle-aged man version of that villain). Ruaridh Mollica returns as Tommy Maximoff (aka Thomas Shepherd/Speed) and Faran Tahir reprises his role as Raza in the original Iron Man film. They’ll be joined by Todd Stashwick as the bounty hunter Paladin, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Emily Hampshire as EDITH, Orla Brady as FRIDAY, Henry Lewis as DUM-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, and James D’Arcy as JARVIS.

VisionQuest will premiere on Disney Plus on Oct. 14, serving as the conclusion of the story that started with WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024.
