Mary Lou Retton‘s legal representative, Edmund J. Rollo, has publicly addressed recent reports suggesting the Olympic gold medalist has been unaccounted for since her mid-May arrest for driving under the influence (DUI).
Contrary to the rumors swirling around online, Rollo provided an update on his client, asserting that Retton, 57, is “in good spirits” and appreciative of the support she has received throughout the legal ordeal.
In a statement to TMZ, Rollo criticized a report that alleged Retton’s family had not “seen or heard from her” since her arrest. He labeled the report “grossly inaccurate,” emphasizing that it did not originate from the retired gymnast’s family, as the article originally claimed.

Retton was arrested on May 17, 2025, in Marion County, West Virginia, after authorities suspected her of driving under the influence. According to police, she exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech and smelling of alcohol. A container of wine was reportedly found in her vehicle, per the outlet, and she allegedly failed field sobriety tests given.
