McDonald’s is amping up their menu with a special new sauce to bring all their food to the next level, while also introducing a slew of new chicken menu items inspired by the sauce.
The fast food chain revealed the big news in a press release shared with Parade, announcing that “McDonald’s is serving up a special way to savor the golden moments of the season—past, present and delicious—with our new limited-edition sauce.”
The new Special Edition Gold Sauce will arrive at McDonald’s locations starting Sept. 3. The tasty sauce is described as “a harmonious blend of vinegary North Carolina BBQ sauce, infused with notes of honey, smoke and mustard.”
The new dipping sauce was created specifically to pair with McDonald’s delicious chicken menu items, with the release also including a few new food items that directly incorporate the sauce.

McDonald’s Special Edition Gold Sauce is Changing the Game
McDonald’s also announced a few new menu items featuring the Special Edition Gold Sauce. The first is the Special Edition Gold Snack Wrap, with the chain adding the tangy sauce to the classic Snack Wraps that fans know and love.
There is also the Bacon Special Edition Gold McCrispy Sandwich, featuring chicken, pickles, applewood smoked bacon and the Gold Sauce, all on a toasted potato roll. If you want to go a step further, you can try the Bacon Special Edition Gold Deluxe McCrispy Sandwich, which is the same as the previous sandwich but with shredded lettuce and Roma tomatoes added to amp up the flavor.
Lastly, McDonald’s suggested fans pair the new Special Edition Gold Sauce with McCrispy Strips, which are described as chicken strips “perfectly coated with a golden-brown breading and delicious black pepper flavor.”
The New Gold Sauce Comes as Fans Gear up for the Fan-Favorite Fall Menu
While fans enjoy the limited-edition new Gold Sauce and accompanying chicken menu items, some are gearing up for the return of fan-favorite fall menu items.
This includes McDonald’s McCafé Pumpkin Spice Latte, which customers can get all season long, iced or hot. The fast food chain is also bringing back the Pumpkin & Crème Pie, which is a sweet treat featuring crème on one side and pumpkin pie on the other with a turnover-style crust all around.
Along with this, McDonald’s is making fans of the K-pop group BTS very happy with the new TinyTAN Happy Meal, which will be available for a limited time, starting on Sept. 3.
